About the Artist
Susan Davis Trott is a local painter who frequently paints outdoors and is the current coordinator of Charleston’s plein air group COPA. She began showing watercolors of local architecture with the Charleston Art Guild and at Piccolo Spoleto in the 1980’s. More recently, after taking an outdoor painting class she discovered the new direction that she currently pursues.
She has taken classes with local artists William McCullough, Lese Corrigan and Jim Darlington as well as workshops with Billyo O’Donnell and others. She attended the School of Art at Virginia Commonwealth University and graduated from Winthrop College where her mentor and teacher was the late American Precisionist painter, Edmund Lewandowski. Growing up in the Washington D.C. area, the many museums and galleries created a love of art and architecture that continues to influence her painting today.
